We recommend cutting hedges twice a year to keep them healthy and neat. If your hedges are hard to reach, don't worry! Our team has the right tools and training to handle it safely. We offer hedge maintenance services for various species, including Beech, Box, Cedar, Conifer, and more, across Kent, London, and Southern England.

Native Bird Species

To protect native birds and their nests, there are rules for trimming mature hedges. We only trim hedges at certain times of the year, usually before March and after August, to avoid disturbing nesting birds. This is because birds mainly breed between March and August. The Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981) says it's against the law to damage or remove nests, hurt or kill birds or chicks, or take or destroy eggs.

If you think there are nesting birds in your hedges during our trimming season, please tell us. We'll check carefully and advise you on the best and safest thing to do.

Responsible Hedge Cutting

Responsible Hedge Cutting

When it comes to hedges between properties, it's important for neighbors to work together to keep them in good shape. If a hedge marks the border between two properties, everyone who shares it should agree on big jobs like cutting it down or making major changes. It's a good idea to talk with your neighbors before trimming the hedge too.

If your neighbor's hedge sticks out onto your property, you can trim anything that crosses the line. But if they need to cut any part on your side, they have to ask your permission first.

In Kent, it's important to remember that cutting hedges that might affect birds, nests, or eggs can still be against the law, even if both neighbors agree.
